Question on return line from sump

I have a CPR IF75 return kit if anyone is familiar with it. Anyway, it comes with a 3/4 inch clear tube for a return line along with a J-Tube that already has the safety holes at the top where the bend is. I know those are supposed to be there for a return siphon if the power goes out, but, it seems they get all the spray before the water gets to my spray bar which goes on the tube after these on the bottom. Also, water is spraying all over the place because these are near the top of the bend of the tube. What am I doing wrong here? I am have a horrible time trying to get my sump up and running. Please help. Jeff

I use a reef ready tank and am unfamilier with your set up but I'm sure some of the others use something like this so this reply will give you a bump up for others to see.

Take it out...dry it...put some silicone in the hole...drill a new hole lower on the tube where it will be submerged slightly. You do not want it too deep or you will flood your fuge when the power is off.
