Question on water flow and filter...

Hey I have a 55 gal SWT, and using a Fluval 404 filter... So far so good with it, I am satisfied...
I have a question about the water going back into my tank, How should I place or direct the water spout, if it is too far to one direction, I get like a whirlpool effect and my clownfish seems to consantly zip around the tank in the current.... Any Ideas??
Also, should the water sout be grazing the top of the water to inject some air into the tank or not..?
Help me??

I had mine so that it was a bit under the water. Do what you like. I bit on top would be fine as long as you aren't worried about it coming loose and draining your tank if it flips out.
How much water movement do you have in your tank anyway? You should have at minimum 10x your tank size...so at least 550 gallons per hour of water turnover...20x would be even better.
