yep, IMO, plexi is safe,
many people use plexi glass for dividers, for their sumps, and some will even use it for a divider when changing substrate(if they use the divider method, instead of stockings)
but, i would have to say it is sae, just i don''t know what types of glue ro epoxy or sealant to use, you will want to make sure that it is marine safe
