So i got one peppermint shrimp and it died already. My temp in the tank climbed like crazy because of my MH light. So i have two questions: I had a small window fan for my upstairs that i used to suck out hot air so i set it up to blow cool air onto the tank well now my temps are goin up and down its either too much with just the light or with the fan its coolin down the tank too much. How do i alleviate this?? Second when my shrimp died around 10 minutes later i saw a bunch of tiny things that LOOK like shrimp floating around and climbing on the rocks. What are they??

not sure about the light, but the little shrimp you see are prabably a copepod or an amphipod

Pods are naturally on your rocks. When your tank cycles, it usually kills most of them off. After awhile the population increases.
My MH light has a fan built in. My tank is also open top, so the air doesn't get trapped near the surface of the water.
