When you get fin and tail rot, will the fish get white puffs on thier fins before they start to dot away?

Can you explain a bit more. You mean cottony tuffs on the tail?

Yeah, and on the fins. I tried to take a picture, but you can't really see the white stuff.

Can you place the fish in a QT and treat it with Maracyn Two for SW fish?
That would be my suggestion.

Most likely an infection. But without actually seeing it, it would be hard to tell. Fungal infections are rare with marine fish.

I would say either a fungal infection or a severe case of ich. Watch your other fish very carefully. HTH
