Questionable Fire Hazard?

I just set up an all-glass aquarium with the mission series stand and canopy. I would like to install a metal halide retrofit kit into the canopy. Could this be a potential fire hazard with this type of canopy? One of the lfs guys said that it would be a fire hazard, however, other lfs guys said that would not be a problem.
I am looking at the Hamilton retrofit kits (2 X 250w mh + 2 X 96 blue).
Since I'm new to all of this I have no idea how hot the tops of these retrofit kits get. Is there enough heat to catch fire?

If you wire it so that your cooling fans control the power supply for your lights they will remain cool while the fans run. Using relays you could wire it so that if your fans failed the power to the lights would be interupted, i.e. they would not receive power unless the fans are running. The posibility of a fire hazard due to heat would be reduced because if your fans shut off so would the lights.
Also use isolation mounts to mount your reflectors.
