Ok, the tank just finished cycling and the only occupants are millions of pods waiting to be eaten. ANYWAY...
heres the equipment.
-2 cascade 1500's, rated at 300 gallons each.(they were a present. bummer i know)
-Prizm pro deluxe skimmer.
-Crushed coral
-80 lbs of lace rock
And now the fish line up. (In order I put them in the tank)
1) Stars and Stripes Puffer
2) Volitan Lionfish – Venomous-Juvenile
3) Blonde Naso Tang
4) Emperor Angelfish – Juvenile
5) Clown Trigger – Juvenile
Questions!
-Is the tank going to be overstocked?
-if so, which fish shall be scratched from the list?
-Are these fish going to be compatible with each other?
-Is more rock needed?
-Is live rock needed for the tang?
-Is a UV sterilizer needed?
-if so, how many watts?
-I have 5 media baskets in the filters (10 all together) what needs to go in them? Bottom 3 baskets are filled with aqua charges. Above that, Carbon. And above that, filter pad. Is that what I'm going to want?
-How much water flow am I going to need?
-My temp. is at 83.5 deg., is that too high?
Thank you for your help everyone!
I REALLY appreciate it.

the tank does sound overstocked, i would take out the clown trigger (EXTREMELY aggressise) id get atleast 25-50#s more, i dont think tangs need alot of lr but just becuz ur doin agg i would get a fair amount. the puffer u may want to add last just becuz they can be territorial and have a tendency to fin pick. i dont think a UV sterilizer is needed, ur flow sounds good and temp should be 74-76 imo

-Is the tank going to be overstocked?
Not right now but once the Trigger, Angel, and Lion reach full size it will be. Each fish is more than capable of attaining 15 inches in length.
-if so, which fish shall be scratched from the list?
Definitely the trigger and probably the lion (see next answer)
-Are these fish going to be compatible with each other?
The trigger is capable of killing everything in the tank once it decides that it is in charge. Large angels and puffers are known to pick on lions, and lions can sting both (particularly the puffer) in response to continual harassment.
-Is more rock needed?
Ultimately up to you; I like to have a pound of LR for every gallon of system water.
-Is live rock needed for the tang?
Not to my knowledge. It doesn't hurt, but tangs as far as I know can subsist solely on vitamins and foods provided by you (i.e. lettuce clip, etc.). Then again, I don't know anyone who has a tang in a system without LR, so hopefully someone else can chime in on this.
Is a UV sterilizer needed?
No system needs a UV sterilizer as far as I know. Still a relatively controversial gadget last I checked. Some people love them, some people don't find them to be worth the hype and $. Their effect can sometimes be moot; they will kill benefitial as well as harmful bacteria in your water. Do as much research on them as you can before dropping your dough.
do I need a chiller?
Living in Arizona? Probably. Especially during the summer.
Best of luck!!
