Questions about introducing female blue throat

So I recently bought a male blue throat trigger and have begun to get the urge to get him a female. Do they have to bought in pairs or can you add one once the other has been in the tank already?

Hey, I think you posted on my thread that you might be looking to get a female after seeing my pair!
Anyway, I had my female in for at least 5 mths before I introduced the male . ( I did the male female pair 5 mths ago but the male didnt make it past 3 days, stress or something )
The female took a bit of interest in the male at first, just snooping around to see what the new tankmate was...but now they just cruise around sometimes together, sometimes on their own and do not bug eachother at all.
My Sohal likes to chase them around more than anything. Boss of the tank. But the male stands up for himself already..doesnt take much of it.

lol, yeah that was me I think. I have had him about a month now.
