Questions about Lions

So i've had my tank setup for almost a year now, and i've been reading about lions for a few months.
Well, i went to my LFS to get some water tests done and browse around, and find out they just got a Lion in the day before. This store sells lions pretty fast so i asked him to hold onto him for me. He said the little guy had eaten frozen mysis earlier in the day, but they wanted to watch him to make sure it wasnt just a one time thing. I had no problem with that. What good is a fish that wont eat?
They have him in his own tank, and if all goes well, i'm going to pick him up this wed.
After all the research i have done, i have one question that i still cant find an answer to!
Everywhere i read, says that you DONT pour the bag into the tank, but i dont want to use a net to get the little guy out bc of his spines.
So after acclimation, how do i get him into the tank?

What I would do is start the acclimation process and take water out as you go. This will remove most of the lfs water. If you use a bucket for acclimation then after acclimating you could catch him in a bowl or use the bucket to put him in the tank. This is how I did my puffers. They never came out of the water and I didn't have to net them.

I did this with both my lions. After drip acclimating them in a bucket, I just scooped them out with a plastic container, poured most of the water out of the container, then dumped the fish in the tank.

That is what I did as well.

I used a net with very large openings in the mesh to prevent the spines from being caught in the net, the container method is great, and I would suggest it for smaller lions, when the get larger things get a little more tricky
