i finally decided to make the switch to saltwater.
i have a 29 gallon acrylic tank that i'll be using.
here are my plans:
Aragamax Oolitic Select Sand
Live Rock
Emperor 400
Ebo Jager 100W Heater
Single Flourescent Bulb (GE Chroma 50)
couple questions:
1) how deep of a sand bed?
2) how much live rock?
3) do i even need the power filter? will the LR and the DSB be able to handle the filtration of my tank?
i plan on cycling the tank with pure ammonia. it should take about a month.
so....help me out.
Tony.

1. with a 29 I would go with a 4" sandbed anymore and you are loosing valuable space.
2. I would go with at least 1.5 lbs per gallon of water.
3. It is up to you about the filter, I do not have any media in mine, I took off the biowheels, you can use it for water movement and if you need to run some carbon or phosphate sponge it is an easy way to do it.
You will want a couple of small power heads to circulate the water, and a small protien skimmer. I have never used ammonia so I can't comment on that, I have used uncured LR and grocery store shrimp and have had good sucess.
