Questions for Internet Gamers.

I'm looking to get internet access at my condo shortly. The main purpose will be to play my Playstation 3 online. Of course I want the fastest, best connection, but doubt that will be available in our rural area. I've heard about satelite internet (via Dish or DirecTV) being a less reliable option.
Here's the bottom line; I'm ignorant when it comes to specific technology, in this case internet connections. I'm looking to find out what other gamers use for their games and if anybody knows anything about PS3 online. Any suggestions or stories how you did yours would be appreciated.

Appreciate that response. That'll likely be my first game played online; Fall of Man. I think my aunt has DSL too - fast internet, I didn't know it'd be good for games too. Had I known that; I coulda been playing PS2 games online back when I lived there....oh well.
I know you have to have that ethernet cord that looks like a big phone line, I assume you have to have one of those installed in the home? I thought DSL used coaxial cable but it wouldn't surprise me to be wrong about that. Like I said, I'm far from knowledgable when it comes to specific technology.
I'm assuming it'll go like this; call a supplier, schedule an install, have some dude come out run some lines and install some kind of terminal in the house, get service eventually, then sign up for PS3 online.
Any complaints on that DSL?

only problem with dsl is there's varying speeds for it, and the faster you go, the more expensive it gets. i have cable at home, and dsl at work, and cable is much faster.

Heres the low down (or down load) on speeds
100mb/s Sat
10mb/s Cable
5mb/s - 512kb/s Dsl
When gaming its not these download speeds that are crucial. Its the "ping" or responsiveness of the connection. You want a ping as close to zero as possible. With my cable I get a ping of <50. When I had dial-up it was more like 500. Only go with DSl if it is over 1mb/sec. You will not regret a fast connection but HATE a slow one. It will make you suck. Go cable!
