Goniopora and elegance corals are both very hard to keep. Goniopora are very prone to being overtaken by algae. Most of the time they do not live in captivity that well and have very specific diets. Although we really don't know what they eat, most of the time coral species do very well with phytoplankton, marine snow, and even occasional oyster egg feedings.
I don't think that goniopora has much to do with lighting as it does water flow and diet. Remember that most sea fans live on the outer edges of reefs that have tons of flow.
For any coral reef tank, you should have very stable parameters, zero's across the board as well as stable pH and Alkalinity.
good luck!

If you get one I would go for a tank raised. I have had mine that I got in the local club now for a couple years and it's growing nicely. I don't usually supplement except some cyclopeze every now and then. What SnakeBlitz33said they are prone to getting algae or jelly, but I think they are easier than elegances from what I gather from club members that have both. I would make sure your tank is well established also.
