I was just wandering if anyone here has had a young porcupine pufferfish? I was wandering if their quill grow longer as they get older and if they do, what does it look like. Because i have a young puffer and she puffed today and i just noticed on her side some of her quill and the skin around it is a little puffy. She has been swimming fine, but i have also noticed that she sleeps alot. I know thats what babies do but i didnt know if it was the same with fish? It doesnt look like she ripped her skin because i know they can do that sometimes it just looks..a little mishappen.

I have had small porcupine puffers before and your puffer sounds normal. Baby porcupine puffers are not usually a very active fish, so for yours to be sleeping a lot is perfectly fine. You should see him become more active as he grows.
What caused the fish to puff? Is he stressed out, or is he just guarding his territory against another fish?

I think that it was possibly me because i noticed that she was attacted to the filter "sleeping" and so i nudged her off of it and then a few mintues later she puffed.
i just worrie when she sticks herself up next to the filter.

A sponge on the intake would help greatly. You would not have to worry if you had one of these on your intake. Your LFS should sell little sponges that have a hole down the middle. They are usually a whitish yellow color, and are primarily used to cover filter intakes.
