cup corals hv so many different kinds. i just temperature acclimate mine when i first got it. mine i put toward the top w medium flow. he seems happy bc all of his polyps r extended during the day.

thanks for the info..
its been like 3 days now? and none of the polyps have come out since i got it... =/ i have it like right at the middle of the tank .. at mid level...
and there seems to be some algae growing on the plate... is that normal?

thats not normal. mine doesnt always open either. mine would stay closed for like 3 days, then all of a sudden would open up. is ur cup coral plate-like? or very curvy w lots of ridges?

notice some algae growing on it... i put a snail on top of eat to clean that off... i also currently put one of my powerheads to give flow directly to it....
should i just give it more time? squirt some microvert on it to entice it to come out?

wow, it doesnt look good at all. is it bleaching? maybe just the pic? mine looks the same, except its green in color.

its a dark cream color.. dont think its bleaching... the dark brown is the algae thats growing on it... but that snail is currently taking care of it

ok, just hinged it on some tonga branch rock at the bottom.. hopefully this will do it. Ive never had this problem with corals before... theyve always opened up pretty much immidiately after putting them in my tank.

sometime they take time to open that alge will keep them from opening and damage the tissue take a turkey baster or powerhead and try to get it off also the snail on it eating the algae will cause it not to open up aswell. I had to play with placement on mine till it opened up in the mean time I had to keep the algae off of it.
