hey whats up so we meet again.
Maracyn One:
With B-complex vitamins. A broad-spectrum antibiotic used in the treatment of body fungus, fin and tail rot, popeye, gill disease, secondary infections and other gram-positive bacterial infections and fungal diseases. Active ingredient: erythromycin. 1 tablet per 10 gallons of freshwater or 20 gallons of saltwater.
Maracyn Two:
With B-complex vitamins. A broad-spectrum antibiotic for internal or external gram negative bacterial infections. Effective treatment of fin and tail rot, popeye, gill disease, dropsy, bleeding or red streaks, secondary and internal infections. Effective even when fish won't eat. Active ingredients: Minocycline. For freshwater, use 2 tablets per 10 gallons first day and 1 tablet per 10 gallons thereafter. For saltwater, use 1 tablet per 10 gallons first day and 1 tablet per 20 gallons thereafter.
It sounds like maracyn one is more for external diseases and postive gram infections and maracyn two is more for internal and external and negative gram infection diseases
Hope This Helps Till Beth Gets Here,
Logan

They are 2 different antibiotics, as you can see from the label list posted above.
What's the problem with the puff??

Posted a thread a little while ago..poor guy's starting to miss scales. Looks like white patches over his body. His spikes are still there, but his scales aren't. Wasn't sure if this is something that should be treated with antibiotics or ick meds. We currently have in in a FOWLR, so meds shouldn't be a problem, right?
Other tankmates are: 1-Purple Tang, 1-Flame Angel, 1-Firefish

If you are using Maracyn, then it definately is a problem in a tank with LR. Stop putting antibiotics in there!
The fish needs to be QTed. How is he eating? Behaving? Could this "wasting" be more of a nutritional problem?

worms and brine is not sufficent for a puffer. They need to also have hard shelled foods. Can you address some of the nutritional needs of puffers in the Agressive Fourm. I'm inclined to believe that this is your problem. A bacterial infection would have taken over the fish by now. What you describe sounds more like wasting.
