Quick question on Scarlet Hermit Crabs

I have about 10 scarlet Hermit Crabs in my reef tank (100lbs of live rock). I was always under the impression that you did not need to feed the hermit crabs and that there is enough algae in the tang for them to eat? Is this correct? Also, how many hermit crabs can a 100 gallon/100lbs of live rock tank handle before needing to worry about feeding the hermit crabs. If i'm totally wrong please let me know.
Just A Beginner looking for some advice.
thanks.

I'd add several more crabs myself. They will eat algae and any scraps that your fish don't get. I'd add at least 10 bluelegs and 10 redlegs and see how that goes. 30 hermits for 100 lbs of lr will do it IMO. Actually, I'd add a little more lr (50 lbs).

What does IMO mean? Sorry kind of new to this don't know the acronyms yet. So I am guessing that you are not feeding the hermit crabs just letting them it the scraps.
thanks for the response.
