i just finished putting water, rock, and sand in my 75 gallon and was wondering how long it should take for the water to clear up....its been foggy for about 12 hours now. is there anything i can do to help it along?

Are your powerheads on? If so turn them off and let the foggy water clear up. By doing this it is allowing the sand to seddle- when they are on it is just mixing up the foggy water. This will clear up your tank fast. Once it is all clear you may then turn on the powerheads!

What are ou using for filtration, I find my tank clears fastest with the powerheads on. I use a sump with a sponge in the center section so passing teh water through teh sponge and skimming definitely seem to resolve the clouding issue faster than letting the water truly settle with no flow which could lead to stagnation.

I agree. I also kept my skimmer running to help clear water. If it is live rock or live sand you don't want to turn powerheads off.
