quick questions

Got a few quick questions for you people so tell me your thoughts
1. when having a wet/dry filter is it better to have the skimmer before or after the bio balls
2. is it ok to have 50% lr and 50% non lr hopeing that the dead rock will turn to live
3. is it also ok to do half live sand and half fake
p.s. its gonna be either a 75-125 gallon fowlr haven decided yet just getting all my info first.

1. you would think it would be better before, since it will remove alot of waste that wont end up caught in the bio balls...
2. yes.. that should work out just fine..
3. yes that would be fine too... the live sand will seed the regular sand, put the regular sand on bottom

also is it better to have one heater or two say I have a 125 tank should I use 1 300wt heater or get two 150wt heaters.
