racoon butterfly

i just recently purchased a racoon butterfly fish and put him in my 90 gallon. He is really active and swims back and forth all day. He's in with a bluehead wrasse and a baby clown trigger. So far i saw the butterfly nibble at the rock the first hour of the introducement. But after that i have tried flake pellets clams silversides formula two brine live brine mysis shrimp and he wont touch a thing. I put some live plants in the tank and still wont touch them. any suggestions?

hes new..........he has to get comfortable
its like purchasing a new fish and all it does is hide right away.
give him time he'll get hungry

I agree with Travis, besides me having a Racoon Butterfly myself. He did the same thing. Mine seems to like frozen brine, he tears it up. Although he took about a week to get really comfortable. Be patient, good luck !

i didnt see the butterfly eat but i was told that it was eating mysis. The butterfly now has signs of ich but it's undercontrol.i right now have cleaner shrimp taking care of it. i will wait a while and if he doesnt start eating in about a week im going to try to put an anemone in the tank. I heard that they barely refuse to eat the tentacles of anemones

i also just bought a racoon butterfly. it been a week hes not eating. i try so to feed him anything but he wouldnt eat. so i let him starve for a week and then i go make my own fish food. tuna, clams, shirmp, musseles and chop them into little tiny pieces. after that i put it in frezer. the butterfly love it not only that all my fish eat it too

Racoon b. may take days to adjust to ur tank be aware by swimming around ur tank is a good sign. Your fish will eat. try mixing clam strips scallops shrimp algae flakes in a blender flatten mixture into sheet freeze use when needed. Also likes frozn mysis shrimp. they also love pellets and will eat mussels in the half shell.
