Hi everyone,, i just bout a radiant wrasse today and put him in my 10 gallon qt tank,, the problem is that i dont have any sand in that tank.. I dont know if the radiant is dying or not because he is laying on his side, but breathing normally... i know these fish need sand but will he be fine for a week without it? Is him laying on his side normal???
Thanks...

well the most likely answer is the clown can sense the wrasse is vulnerable and he doesn't like newcomers is he picking on him when hes asleep or awake?

he picks on him when hes awake.. i put the clown in a smaller tank in the tank(about 1 gallon).. would this be a good idea?

Yes probably just let the wrasse establish a territory then they should be able to get on with eachother if not post again with the problem

ahhhhh!!!! so i let the clown free today,, and he started darting at the wrasse again... i am thinking that it is because my qt tank is only 10 gallons... Do you think this will stop once they get in the 44 gal?

A 10g is too small for two fish...you should only have one fish in your QT at a time (unless it is two small fish of a pair). Now you can't put the clown into the DT because if the wrasse has a parasite, the clown is now infected, the whole reason of the QT is so each fish can be monitored for 4 weeks for any disease to show up. Put the clown back into the 1g tank, he swims in a corner all the time anyway. As long as the parameters are good he will be okay...he must start quarantine from scratch again if you want to be safe, which is why you had the QT to start with.

ahh!!! so i let the clown free for a couple hours to see if hes friendly again and when i returned he almost completely bit off my radiants fin... Now the radiant wrasse cant even swim!!! i tried feeding and he swam like a bird with no wings and couldn't aim the food in his mouth! i put some fish protector slime just to help the process of his healing... will he make it? he is just laying on the sandbed looking so hopeless.
