Dang, our 2x400W MH's are finally up and we come to find out that XYZ sent us different color bulbs. I originally ordered 2 20k's and one arrived broken. They sent me a replacement bulb and didn't think twice about it. Tonight as we turn on the MH's the coloration on the left side of the tank is totally different from the right side. Sure enough, hubby looks at the box and the original bulb says *blue* and the new *planta*. There is no option on their site to even order different colors.
Anybody else had similar thing happen?

just take a picture of the tank, repack the bulb and take pictures of the boxes... send them back and ask them to make it right. they cant expect you to keep them.

I'm sure they'll send me a return label, the were very good with sending me the replacement for the original order. I've already emailed my rep at the XYZ company and pretty sure they'll send out a replacement bulb that is the correct color.
I just didn't even think that these bulbs would come in different colors as it's not even an option when purchasing.

No 2 bulbs are exact. Unfortunately. I have seen the same with my Phoenix 14k DE both 150w and 250w. And my Aquaconnect 250w SE 14k bulbs.
But a really noticible difference should be replaced. Like mzkimms said, take pics, contact the XYZ, and try a new one.

differences in the bulbs happens, but you said yours were marked as a different bulb type... planta instead of blue. so its clearly not the same bulb.

What I said is that there is no way to even order different *colors* of bulbs at the XYZ site. The boxes for the bulbs are identical with the little difference in a tiny white label says *planta* in the replacement bulb. That bulb is used for *plant cultivation*.
I just thought it was funny and was wondering if anybody else has received wrong colors of a bulb that you didn't even know existed in different *color*
