I Just Got A Seaclone 100 For My 55 Gallon A Few Weeks Ago. Anybody Else Got One, And What Do You Have To Say About It?

i have heard good and bad but more bad. it says rated to 100 gallons but i have heard people would not use it in tanks over 55 gallons.

I Was Ready To Toss It For The First Week But After Adjusting The Air About One Million Times It Is Finally Now Producing. For Anyone That Has One I Would Say Have Patience, Wath The Turbulence In The Skimmer And Keep Adjusting. Mine Is Making A Constan Brown Foam Now And Seems To Be Fine. Adjust- Wait And Watch - Reapeat!!

adequate for small tanks. When ever I hear somebody say "I have to constantly adjust it" that lets me know right there its not the seaclone its the users lack of patience or grandious expectations. this skimmer works best with the air valve almost all the way open until its almost about to fall off. If it stops skimming then thats just the best its going to do for the moment. Leave it alone, it will start skimming again when organics build up sufficiently. If you want something that skims all the time buy a better skimmer. I've had the seaclone on my 30g reef. I feed the tank twice a day plus a 1x3" algae clip per day. I dont adjust it ever. I've had it for about a yr. works nearly all the time (and when it stops I dont have to do anything but wait a day or two for it resume working on its own), it doesn't have to be particularly clean to work, used it hang on and in sump. zero nitrates, phophates ect ect. Obviously works well enough for me and a 30gallon. May not be enough for more than a 30g but thats all I've used it on.
and these are not atypical results. looks like this any given day

i did the mods to mine and it works alot better than it did, mine hangs on the back and i think that tube takes away so much to make it a good skimmer. if its in a sump they work great, friend of mine got one the same time i did and put his in a sump and his pulls out 3-4 times what mine does. on my other tank i went with Coralife Super Skimmer so we'll see how that does.
