This thread will be for me to track my progress with the new bedroom nano we set up. I set this up two months ago anticipating my birthday. So, keeping up with tradition, I bought myself something for the tank for my birthday present to myself. I bought this brain and clam for sixty. Anyone ID this clam for me.
EDIT: I need more rock, there is currently only 10lb in the display.

You really shouldn't add a clam to such a young tank though.Usually when you have coralline alage growing on your rock is a good indicator that your tank is ready for a clam.

You do not see all the coraline growth on the rock? And I do not think coraline growth is a good indicator. A proper test kit to ensure adequate calcium levels IMO is a better indication. Maybe I a wrong.

When we returned home after a few hours of being gone I found that the clam has repositioned himself. You can't see his nice colors anymore, but he seems alot happier. He obviously moved for a reason and he is no longer gaping. Any comments?

What i meant from my previous comment was a more established environment sorry for the confusion. But you are correct about calcium keep all your water paremeters in check and the occassional feeding of DT's and you should be fine.As for the clam moving- as long as his mantle isn't facing away from the light it'll be fine.Really nice little clam by the way.

Thanks. He is facing straight up toward the MH. This is my first clam and I think I am hooked. I would like to get a few more. And I fed the tank (pump off) with a ~teaspoon of phytoplankton this afternoon. Any ID on the brain coral?

The brain looks like a goblet or a open type.Brains typically like moderate to high light exposure and a low to medium flow of water.Since you have a 150mh you can probably put it anywhere that suits you.Just make sure that when you add other corals you want to leave a decent amount of room between them.

No feather duster. Ended up getting a large clown and an African yellow anemone. I got home and realized I had a hitchhiker in the anemone. Yes, that's right, another clown- free.

Thanks. In the first chamber in back it is filter floss and chemi pure. Second chamber I have Phosban and third chamber is the return pump and heater. I am going to make a mini fuge in the second chamber. Only ten lb of PRIMO live rock right now. I am waiting for the little clown to come out of hiding and re-host his anemone. They advertised the anemone as an African but I can not find it online. Do you know what it is?

Today I come home from work and the little clown that came as a free hitchhiker with my anemone was not in it. I look closer and the large clown is in the anemone and the little one is on the edge of the anemone. The large clown almost looks engulfed. Any way to know if the anemone is attacking him? He is not struggling, and the anemone isn't wrapping around him.

EDIT: My girl called and told me this afternoon about this. She pushed him out of the anemone fearing death. The clown was back in it when I got home from work.

I just did my second w/c on the tank so it is slightly cloudy. I will post pics soon (hopefully tonight).
UPDATE: both clowns are now in the anemone peacefully. Maybe they decided to pair up?
Odd because one is almost three times the size as the other.

Here is a pic from a cell phone from a few hours ago before the water change. If you look close you can see both of the clowns.
What do you all think? Crappy? Decent start? I am looking for feedback. I know I need more rock as I only have about ten pounds so far.
