yes they have the same requirments as a normal BTA. under the right conditions my understanding is that they readily split more often than the normal BTA though.
Do you need the requirments for a BTA?

The Bubble Tip Anemone, a.k.a. Bulb Anemone, is a very popular Anemone because it readily hosts most Clownfish species. These Anemones are on the smaller side and have tentacles which form swelled bulbs at their tips. The Bubble Tip Anemone is known to "split" quite readily in the home aquarium, producing additional Anemones. They should be provided strong lighting and a decent water flow.
Anemones are solitary polyp organisms which are supported internally by water. Anemone species are differentiated by the color, shape, placement, and length of the tentacles. These Cnidaria feed off of zooxanthellae within their bodies and need a strong light source in order to survive. They will also take in food by using their tentacles to slowly move the prey to their mouths which is a slit in the center of the body. This single opening also serves as its way of expelling waste. Anemones use tiny stinging cells in their tentalces called "nematocysts" in order to stun their prey. The nematocysts within these tentacles are also used as a defense mechanism. The nematocysts can also disturb human flesh and should be considered dangerous, especially to those that have known allergies. Anemones found in the wild usually have found a crevice to hide their foot, or base, leaving only the tentacles exposed.
Some Anemones are shipped in little or no water. Float them for half an hour, discard any water in the bag, then release the Anemone directly into the aquarium. You can also choose to drip acclimate in a bucket by themselves.
Anemones have nematocysts, a.k.a. stinging cells, and can be dangerous to the touch. These creatures can cause injury or death. By purchasing this item you agree that you understand this is a dangerous creature and that Saltwaterfish.com is not responsible for any injury or death that may occur.

once they split for awhile they look bad sometimes till they regenerate the tissue and heal the wound that was caused. every now and then a infection can set in so watch for that but a few days of the retracted or hiding is normal.
on looseing the bulbs I really dont know why they do this I have never had a BTA keep its bulbs never really have been able to find a deffinate answer on that. Here is a GBTA that I had that lost its bulbs like you asked about.

I feed my rbta a med shrimp about once a week sometimes he eats it sometimes he doesn't. It will sometimes climb to the top of my rock and open up about 3" below the water to a 400w 20k bulb and he may stay there for a month then he'll move under a rock and just peek out for a few days. There is no common reason why he move and why he doesn't. My temp only changes less than 1/2 a degree between day and night. I thought it might be water but there are no changes there either. I keep a log on water temp and test to see if I can find a reason but none so far, I know it's about to drive my clowns nuts. My perculas were hosting him but they moved to the carpet ( it never moves ). I think if i put another anemone in there my false percs will leave him to. Sometimes he has bubbles then he won't. If I ever crack the code I'll let everyone know.
