THis ? is mainly for Squishyfish and Bang guy (but thanks to all who answered - a lot of helpful info)
OK, if I were to walk into YOUR FS and ask about what I needed to set up a 30G reef tank what exactly would you send me home with? i now have a biowheel (what type of gravel, and how much, filtration system, how much live rock, inverts/clean up crew, lighting for easy to keep corals) Do you reccomend a certain type of tank like a taller skinner rather that a shorter fatter? And finally how long should i wait on corals after i have my tank set up?
I cant thank you enough for your help!

I would do my best to talk you into a 75 or as a last result a 40 gallon breeder. I'd set up someone to drill it for you and attach a nice 400 - 600 GPH water pump and a sump.
I'd suggest a 4" Sandbed and about 80 - 100 pounds of uncured live rock.
I'd send you home with some ammonia and Nitrite test kits and ask you to come back in a month or two when both read zero.
When you came back in two weeks due to impatience I'd send you home with a pair of 250 watt Metal Halide setups.

Well, like Bang, I would talk you into a 75 or better, especially if you are new to this. You want one that's drilled so you can have a sump/refugium. A 600 gph pump. A couple small powerheads, pc's, live sand, ro water from lfs or your own unit, and 2-4 days later, I would sell you cured lr (from a good source if you can get it. If not, go w/ normal aragonite and uncured lr). I wouldn't put the lr in right away b/c if you put the lr in while there is a lot of crap floating around in the water, it can settle on the lr and kill a lot of the stuff on and in it. <-- From what I have read...

well what about clean up crew and why a breeder?

Just the way I would do it... there are LOTs of options.
I'd wait until everything is stable to add cleanup critters.
I'd suggest a breeder tank because of the low profile: big footprint.
Surface area is important, so is water volume.
