Reactor

Can I run two types if media in a reactor like active carbon and phosban? just pack some filter floss between the two and fill half full of each? Or is my logic flawed here?

I don't see why not, but bear in mind that phosban is designed to have very low flow, much lower than you would normally use with carbon.
If using two types of media like this, you need to default to the one with the lower flow requirements.

People run different things for different reasons.
If you are saying that you have a reactor and you want to put it to use, but don't have a particular problem you are trying to address, I'd just run carbon, as it's cheap.

i dont really have any major issues. What I do have is this coat of algae that forms on the glass that is a annoying. It easily wipes away with my hammerhead scrapper but, talking to another guy that I helped set up a tank he doesn't have any on his glass. when i posted about it maybe a year ago some body chimed in and said that it was normal and they have the same thing.
my tank is 125 gallon tank with a sump and rubblerock and cheato with a skimmer. feed everyother day a variety of the frozen cubes, just one cube every other day. Looking to find a way to get rid of it the dusting on the glass. also thought about running a 200 micron sock on my two overflows to have some mechanical filitration in there.
parameters
0 amm
0 trite
0-5 trates
seachem phophate test says 0 but i dont totaly trust it, it only tests 0 -5 i need something that will test in the low range better
so does everyone have to scrape there glass everyother day to keep it looking clear? would some type of phosban work better in my situtation?

You can run phosban if you want, but anyone who tells you that they "don't get algae" is lying.
Algae happens, it's unavoidable, even with undetectable nitrates and phosphates.
My tank needs to be cleaned every few days with a mag cleaner. If I ignore it for a couple weeks I end up with coraline spots I have to scrape.

I have an inline reactor that goes from my sump to the chiller and back. I keep a bag of chemipure & and the rest of it filled with purigen. Seems to work well for me.

Its an inline reactor with barb fittings. I have a separate pump for this in my sump. I just fit the reactor in line with it since everything else in my sump uses slip pvc.
