Need help! I'm ready to start my reef tank. I will be going to the LFS after work to purchase mty 1st coral but dont know what to get to start off. Any ideas?. I would like soemthing for my clown fish such as an anemone but not sure. Also are star fish necessary for a reef tank? Not sure if my cleanup crew is adequate enough for my tank.
I recently purchased my new lights for the tank since my original ones were basic lights. Lights are corallife 265 watts so i know my light will be good enough. My tank has been up for about 4 month now and eveyrthing is really good :joy: . I have a 55 gal tank with about 50 lbs of live rock, LS, a bak-pak protein skimmer, and a power head for flow.
I currently have 2 maroon clown fish, 1 yellow tang, 1 coral beauty, 2 damsels and one pearlscale butterfly. Clean up crew 10 turbo snails and 4 hermit crabs.
Any help would be great!
Thanks
Mike

with that lighting you can do low light corals, such as zoo's, shrooms, and softies. but word of warning. be cautious with the pearlscale butterfly, most butterflys are NOT reef safe! also, with 265w pc on your 55 tank, i wouldnt recommend housing an anemone either. some people are successful with that setup, but if you want an anemone i would lean more toward metal halide. good luck with the tank!
