Really expensive niger trigger food?

My 2nd fish (after percs) is about to be a niger tigger. Problem is, I want to buy a horseshoe/snail/shrimp cleanup crew from here. I dont mind 3 or 4, but is there any chance that my entire crew is going to end up eaten?
PS at least the Niger will be a juvenile (2-3 inches)

You may get lucky, but that is a very slim chance. Niger Triggers is a triggerfish (duh <img src="graemlins//silly.gif" border="0" alt="[silly]" /> ). And triggerfish are (in my opinion) the worst fish suitable to be with inverts. They eat every invert I can think of. Even urchins. They ether blow water at the urchin flipping it over, or piee by piece bite of each spike, and start eating. But Niger Triggers are youe best bet for a reef (besides sargassum), some people get away with it, but most of the time you get a happy trigger, actually, a happy, fat trigger. ;) Overall, I wouldn't try it, it's to risky.

nigers tend to be the least aggressive of the triggerfish. Yes, it is a trigger, so there is always a chance that it will eat your cleaners, but there are more than a few people on this board that have had luck with Nigers in a reef, myself being one of them. I say check with your lfs, explain to them the situation. See how flexible they are. Tell them you want to give it a shot, and if it doesn't work out, see if you can return the trigger. If you have some rockwork for the critters to hide in, that may help some, but it's mostly going to depend on the nature of the niger.
Good luck. Let us know how you make out.

I had blue legs, scarlets, turbo snails, and an emerald crab in there with my niger. I had a coral banded shrimp for a while, but the CBS was mean, so he was evicted from the tank. The niger never touched any of them.

I think Im going to try emerald crabs. 4 of them is a cheaper risk than a $100 cleanup crew and they can probably defend themselevs. Or better yet, maybe Ill get 2 of each and see what he likes.
Thanks much
