Is it reallt neccesary to QT new fish for a month before adding
them to your display? Because i have not done that with any of my fish... and they are all healthy.

I have some stuff called "NO-Ich." You can add it right into the display tank. It won't hurt inverts, corals, fish, etc. It just kills ich and other parasites.

The effectiveness of that is highly questionable. Even than, by the time it might be able to help... it could have spread to epic proportions for the tank.

YES! I didn't use to quarantine new fish and got lucky many times but one time we added a puffer and it had some disease we didn't know about. In a very short time it died and killed two very healthy Clarkii clowns. I've learned my lesson. After that I setup a qt tank that I keep running.

are you talking about qting the fish from your lfs? i have never heard of this but when i think of this it seems to be a very good idea i just dont if i could stand having the fish in the qt tank for that long.

ok, i am probably gonna get bashed for this, but why not add that stuff when you add the new fish, just incase it has ich? that way it wouldnt have a chance to spread.
just a thought, i have never heard of it.

I got lucky too for about 3 months. Last fish I added from the LFS had ICH and killed all my other fish. I"m now fishless and starting a QT while my display is empty for 3-4 weeks. My LFS guy told me ALL fish have ICH and it only effects them if there stressed. Not sure I believe that! since all my fish were heathy and active till I added his fish.

I can speak from experience on this topic. I had a small QT that I gave to daughter when I thought I was done getting new fish. Then I saw a Powder Blue Tang that I had to have, so I got him and didn't QT him. I deal with a very good lfs, who even refuses to sell if he has any disease/parasite outbreaks. Long story short, the tang developed ich and spread it to everyone in the tank.
Moral of the story:
QT new fish or catch all your fish eventually to QT and treat them all!

I will not be adding any other new fish,
but i dont know if i should catch all my fish and qt them all.
They all are ich, and parasite free.. though i dont want it to come later on in the future. Should i do it when i start seeing ich?
