I recieved a skeleton blue hippo yesterday the poor thing is nothing moor than a skeleton. What would be the best way to feed him to keep him from dieing???I know with people and dogs if you feed them to fast when they've been starved that can kill them.
He is eating but I dont want to give him to much and him die from it.
Any suggestions???
What would be the best food to give right now also???

I feel sooo sad for him.

If he is eating,, i would make sure you feed him plenty of NORI, soaked in GARLIC and rotate that along with NORI soaked in vitachem. Since he is eating, he can constantly graze on the nori at his own convenience and fatten up fast, i hope. GOOD LUCK

there are other algae sheets available (red and brown or purple) and there's flaked up algae called sea veggies (or something similar). but get a clip to go on the glass if you don't have one, and let him eat what he wants :)

i just seriously hope you didn't introduce ICH to your tank if he's already in there. a starving tang + yellow tang in the tank = insane potential for disaster.

I dont think so, because anything else you try to spot feed him will be eaten by the other fish as well,, Make sure you soak ALL your frozen food in the VITACHEM and GARLIC XTREEME, you need to build up your hippos vitamin deficiancy and build his immune system up again.. regards!

Thanks for the help MiaHeatLvr I appreciate it.
I'm going to go to my LFS right now and pick up some Vitachem and Garlic xtreme.

from what I have read on these boars and have witnessed from my own tangs (unfortunately) is that using fresh garlic is what works, not any of the ones in the bottle. I instantly saw differences using fresh garlic, I lost two tangs to trying garlic in the bottle (and ich). Just my opinion.

IMHO, the best way to get finnicky tangs to feed, is to get a small piece of live rock and then rubberband the nori (or other algae or other food) to the rock.
