OK all i am looking to upgrade my digital camera. I have a KM Dimage Z2.
I want to upgrade for these reasons:
Zoom: I cant take shots close up of any thing in my tank. They blur extremely easy, even on a tripod.
Stability: This thing has to be perfectly still to take a picture. I want a camera that has an auto stablizer of some sort that doesnt need to be help perfectly or on a tri-pod to snap a photo. I would like to also take sports photos with this, (at my school) so something that has an auto shake feature of some kind.
Lense: I would like to be able to use lenses to inhance the picture. (wide angle, digi telephoto, digi zoom, filters etc)
Those are my main reasons for wanting to upgrade.
My price cap is about $600.00 but pls recommend anything up to about $1000.00 b/c i work at BestBuy and get an amazing deal.
I really wanna be able to get this soon, so help me out.

I would seriously consider the Canon 20d because you also mentioned sports photography. It will shoot at 5 fps for 23 consecutive frames and all the EOS ef/af lenses fit and are readily available used. The body can be found for as little as $700 and compares to the MK II for image quality. The main difference is the frame (the MKII has a much stronger frame as it is a Pro camera to be used in the field). It is 8.2 megapixel. This will be my wife's next investment. She is a professional photographer.

Any 1 else have an opinion??
I am leaning toward the pentax.
It is about $200.00 cheaper than the nikon, and has most of the same features. The Pentax also has a bigger lcd.

I have a canon powershot g3, its an older camera but very nice and solid. The newer cameras of the canon line also look great like the powershot g6, 7.1 megapixel camera for under $600.00, at least online and probably in larger electronic stores. I have taken some sunset and landscape pics with my g3 that would keep those mouths open, but of course they are not action pics like you might be taking. I figured it would be worth to mention it to you.
Good Luck
