Recommended Angel

Got a new 120 gallon tank started, wanted to get one angel for the tank eventually. Really like the emporer because of the whole juvy look and changing period, but see its not overly easy to keep. What do you all recommend?

Good call. I really like the bicolor one! I also like the lemonpeel... just not sure how long its going to take me to talk myself out of a juvy emperor. I know when this thing gets large, its going to get too large. The dwarf would be a better option, but I love the emporers, just gotta let my mind work over my instincts. lol

I see what you are saying, the emporer is not reef safe as an adult. Shew, maybe that will get my mind off of it. Now I guess I will decide between the flame, lemonpeel, and bicolor... really wanted a showpiece fish with the angel tho.

sry, i did mean the normal angels (such as the emporer).
i personally LOVE my coral beauty. there was a really rare dwarf angel that someone paid over $100 for, but i cannot find the post right now.
also, since you're on the topic of dwarf angels, stay away from the potter's angel. supposdely they just die for no reason.

research says that the coral beauty is cheaper and hardier, but more prone to nip at corals than the other dwarf angels.

ehh, i havent even seen my CB eat algae off the rocks. very active swimmer, but doesn't like newcommers upon initial intro to tank. leaves them alone after though.
it also seems i did get a well behaved CB and some do say they have problems.

i'll take a pic when i get home.
also, with your live rock and sized tank, you could get a male/female mandarin combo :)

I have a green mandarin (i think you knew that) I was actually thinking about ordering another cuz my tank is pod city, plus the overflow is a nice fuge. Along with the real fuge underneath, should have a nice pod pop. Can you mix types as well, one green and one of the bluish type?

i'd love to see a clearer pic, but rare nice looking angel seems a good thing :)
i was just trying to read through this thread and suggest a GOLDEN ANGEL they are dwarf angels, mine dont bother any corals or anything in my tank, awsome fish very pretty and usually out swimming too. i would love to get a clear pic for you guys bc these just dont do any justice for him. i paid 120.00 for him and he was wellllll worth it. i had some major water problems in the past week due to me cleaning the one and only filter i had and causing a spike in the tank. lost 3 fish but my angel, clown, firefish is still doing really well thank God tough little guy. love him to death, u should really check them out.

Wow that is awesome looking in that tank! I would definitely love to see a better picture. There are limited pictures on the internet, but it looks like a nice showpiece of an aquarium. Dont know where I could even find one.

In our two tanks, we have a coral beauty, an eibli, and a keyhole (keyhole and eibli are in the same tank...friends). The keyhole and eibli are both in with soft corals and haven't bothered anything.
Another rare dwarf angel that is gorgeous is the goldflake angel, which is a cross between the half black and the lemonpeel (I think). They are up there in price, however!
