Recovering Anemone

When I got my anemone, I was told it was a White Sebae. This is what it looked like:

6 months later, it's a completely different creature:

All the tentacles are longer, fuller and turning a beautiful flouresent tan with solid white tips. The color has only come out in the last 3-4 weeks. The base color is changing also, it's turning more tan/brown than orange. When the tentacles started growing/recovering, there were a few that had bubbles in them, but all have grown out into long slender tentacles. Even though it still has a way to go before its fully recovered, my best guess is its a BTA.
The tomato clown has been a perfect companion & has only just lost it's baby white spots. I would like to add another. while it's still young. Thinking about introducing a 2nd one in a plastic critter cage, in the tank. The Hippo was dime size when I got it, with the plan to give it up when it outgrows my 30 gallon, so it won't be a factor in the tank.

Cool to know I am not the only one nursing one back to health. Mine is finally turning tan or brown and seems to be doing great. I have mine in a 35 gallon.

Yes, it is a cool thing & amazing to watch. I shudder to think how many times it was almost removed from the tank, and couldn't bring myself to do it, while it still had a hint of life.

I have two sebae's. When I got them both were totally WHITE. I put one in my 30 hex, under 130W's and one in my 55 under 390w's. The one in the 30 with less light has colored up beautifully, grown and looks great. The one in the 55 is FINIALLY starting to show some color coming in, but its tentacles are small, just doesn't look healthy. The other one has long tentacles, fat, very pretty.
I sure hope the one in the 55 comes around, I feed it food soaked in vitamins and about once a week.
I've had both of these for about 7 months now. What I don't understand is everyone told me they need LOTS of light. Well mine are proving that to be either a quirk or wrong. :notsure:

Reef diver, the clown is about 2 inches. BTA was my best guess too, thanks!
Emeraldcrab, when my "BTA" was in a 10 gc with 30 watt CL50/50, it just held its own, in other words, it didn't die, but it wasn't flourishing. I put it in the 30gc, under Nova T-5 and it took a couple of months for the BTA to "want" the high light. Most of the time it stayed under a ledge, in the dark. As it gained more color, it stayed out in the light more. Now it spends most of its time open full to the light. It only closes up & goes back under the ledge when it poops
I feed the BTA, 3-4 times a week, small prawn or scallop pieces, or a 1/2 cube of Prime Reef. Plus my tank is fed twice a day with brine/mysis and/or variety of DT's, flakes, etc. The clown feeds this to the BTA so it is very well fed.

All the tentacles are long & smooth with solid white tips & most have turned a deeper tan/brown. It's improved even more in the last few days. I cut back the xenia forest that was growing above the rock which made the BTA a lot happier. Was going to get a new photo tonight, but sure enough, it's closed up. Will try again tomorrow when it's not pooping!

Just wanted to post an updated picture of my anemone. This one turned out to be such a beautiful creature. It's exciting! As far as the ID, if I had to "pick" the closest picture of an anemone from this site it would be the H. Magnifica. The base & footing are exactly the same, including coloring as in the picture on this site. If not, then it's a Sebae. It's never moved from the rock it footed to when I had it in the 10 gallon tank. The tentacles are also much darker than the photo shows (over exposed & that wiggly clown does not help either)
