Hiya!,
I got an early wake up call saying we had a live stranding to go and rescue. After getting the fuzziness out of my head, I preceeded to my coordinators house and then out to the beach to get this guy.

She is currently in the rehab pool. We caught see anything wrong with her externally, but it may be enternally. She is very strong, but is not swimming on her own. We are walking her continuously. We named her Harley. I just stopped off to drop some pictures off and I am back out to the rehab tank.

When I left, she was doing well...but had some exciting moments when she freaked out....but all was calm when I headed to my real job (the one that pays). I have been gone for 5 hours and no news is good news. Fixing to drive back out there and pull an all nighter.
I have worked with several bottlenose dolphins and 5 melon headed whales, but this is my first spinner.
I have some 80 or so pics so far from today, but not the time to edit them. I need to head back. Trust me, more pictures to come.
Keep her in good thoughts so she can pull through.

already have the #3 pic on the fridge. My daughter went nuts when she heard her story. We have a special place in our souls for dolphin and turtles. Where we spend our vacation in FLA we are always in the company of dolphin when we are just hanging out in the water. Everyone has strict instructions not to reach, or try to play with them when they are hanging with us. My kids LOVE it. Every year there is a turtle in trouble on the beach due to boats. It brings me to tears seeing them in trouble. But the area where we stay has a great rescue and much success in realeases. :)
Our thoughts are with this little creature...again thanks for being there for them.

Well, it was a long night. I am glad I had good help. She remains calm. We tube fed her pedielite and water to keep her hydrated. This morning at 8AM they are suppose to switch her over to squid. She is awesome. Her tooth structure is so different compared to some of the other marine mammals I have worked with. She has over 60 tiny pin like teeth in each row. All the other marine mammals I have work with have had up to 25 large teeth in a row. She was a little tricky at first when tubing, because we needed to make sure our volunteers didn't get bitten while not harming the dolphin. The method we used works well and she accepts the tube quite well. I left about 5:30AM this morning to come back home for some sleep.
Here are some more pictures from Day 1

OH wow! Thanks for the pics. I have been worrying about her all day. So she seems to be coming around? What do they think happend to her? She seems so little I wonder if she got separated. Do you work with the rescue in your town? Lord, if I lived on the coast I would do that in a heart beat.

just a little humor to add to your tired day. My son was looking at your pics. He says "look Mom, they have Santa helping them" (we always tell our kids that Santa spends most of his time at the beach and warmer climates after xmas.

regarding pics 2 and 5 :D
