red algae

about a quarter of my 75 gallon tank has red algae on the c.c.
should i remove it and replace with new c.c.
if left alone will it harm anything on the reef

Actually it will choke out life if left unchecked! You need to clean out as much as you can by hand, do a search for cynobacteria it can help you with step to get it under control!
I have the same problem I change my lighting schedual and use a product called red slime remover
