I recently purcashed a used tank for a great deal but it has red alge that is impossible to get rid of. I've cleaned all of my live rock, substrate, etc. and it keeps returning. Someone please help me!!!

Where's the RED algae? If it's a bright pink color that's actually a good thing. this is the same alagae that makes LR look so nice.

Describe the aglae further. I had a problem with some dark reddish (what I called) algae and it was the result of sunlight. It would grow back within 2 or 3 days after intense scrubbing of everything in the tank. For about two weeks I forgot to raise the blinds in my living room, where the tank resides, and the red crud stopped coming back. I defeated it by blocking out the sun... of course my house plants weren't happy. Try a sun-block and see what happens. That's my two cents worth. ;)

Its probably a type of cyanobacteria, and water circulation will surely help. SPF30 might work too
