Hi, I've been waiting for someone to reply to this also! A couple months ago we had the same problem on the crushed coral just in a small area. We were given a little baggy of powder by the owner of our lfs. He said just mix half of this powder with water and pour it in the tank. It started to clear up in 2 days. Don't know what it was ???? But it worked! You only use a pinch of this powder stuff. Let's see what someone else say's. There is a cure anyway!

Thanks Pam,
I spoke to someone else that told me to use Areethamyasin(Not sure of the spelling). This is a tablet that is normally used for tail rot & lip fungus. They said to use a 1/2 a tablet for every 10 gal. and to crush it up. It should take a day or 2.

 Yup. That was exactly what he gave us! In a powder form. It worked, but i was curious as to what caused the algea!

What type of salt are you using? I was using Rea sea and my LFS had me switch (they just told me to try something else so now us instant ocean) and in 2 week all of the red slim was gone.
