Red Algea

It is very hard to get rid of naturally.
I struggled with it for about two months before I nuked it with red slime remover.
It can come from alot of things, but usually is pretty common in tanks just starting out as your tank matures.
I tried everything to feeding cutbacks and lighting cutbacks and trying to take it out.
What kind of filtration are you running and how are your parameters?
Most importantly you need to ensure your nitrates and phosphates are low.
It usually starts out on the sand, but once it gets to the rocks it might be at the point of overtaking your tank. It will spread and spread.

check your nitrate and phosphate levels. you should try to manually remove as much as possible whenever possible to prevent it from taking over your whole tank. this will only help slow it down from spreading. you will still need to figure out why you are having this problem. make sure you are not overfeeding your tank, plenty of water flow, bulbs are not old, adequate filtration, good protein skimmer, etc..
