My yellow tang is getting a bunch of orange/red blotches on it's torso. Is this natural or is it sick? It acts normal, eats well so should I be concerned? Thanks.
What food are you feeding him at the moment?
I have had this problem with a yellow Tang before and found that he had a nutrition deficiency. My clients were only feeding him one kind of food so i made them go out and get him approx 3 or 4 different typed of food, and made sure he always had something to graze upon (like the algae clips). It took about 2 or 3 weeks to get him looking better, but since then he is back to his truly yellow self again kicking a** and taking names like he was before. I hope this helps him out!
This could definately be a sign that something is wrong; perhaps a bacterial infection.
I'd suggest a water change for tank right now, and see what develops. Do you have a hospital tank in case the fish will need treatment?
You should see if your LFS has Maracyn 2 for SW fish.
