Red Gracilaria -Good?

I picked up a big bag of Red Gracliaria for my reef tank today. I understand that it does not require much lighting, removes nutrients from the tank and can be eaten by some fish.
I guess I'm looking for confirmation.. Good? edible? helpful?

tangs like to eat it and they will compete with other algeas but if it starts over growing you may want to trim it.

I also wanted to ask if anyone knows why my Kenya tree closes up after I put liquid food into the water.

Well you got your answer to the Gracilaria already. My tangs and dwarfs LOVE it, and it still needs to be trimmed.
What kind of food are you feeding? It may just be eating a little

I feed it nutra-kol Micro feed - Formulated specifically for culturing live foods and feeding herbivorous filter feeders in reef and other marine systems. NutraPlus Micro Feed contains pure Dunaliella salina and Nannochloropsis oculata algae with no additives. Contains high natural levels of carotenes, minerals, vitamins, and fatty acids. (the description)
I also feed it liquid selcon. I feed it about 2-3 times a week.

Hmm. I've never used that. But even when I add "snow" to the tank, the colt and kenya close. I always attributed this to nothing more than it eating, just like any other coral would/does.
