Red Hair Algae??

Well I recieved a sun coral a while back at a discounted rate due to the slight red hair algae stuff on it, well needless to say, it has started to creap along the sand and starting to get onto the live rocks. It is not terribly bad now however I want it gone before it completly takes over everything. It is not pretty stuff at all, almost looks like a bloody mess. Any suggestions? I have tried sea hairs, they just die for some reason, I have a flame angel that never touches it, and some tiny little snails that don't do anything but get in the way. Will try and add pictures later this evening.

That looks like cynobacteria to me. Have you been good on your water changes? Cyno usually shows up when there are excess nutrients in the system. You just have to keep up on those water changes and maybe look into starting a refugium, to absorb those nutrients.

I have a well established refugium, has been in place for almost a year now, has a 4 inches deep sand bed as well as plenty of wonderful green algea so much to say that I cant even see from one side of the refugium to the other.
