Red / Purple Firefish

Do you think it is possible to add a red and a purple Firefish (dartfish) to a tank together successfully?
Thanks!

Depends on the tank size. I wouldn't add just one of each though. They will do better as 1 or 3 or more.

I would get either 1 or 3 of one kind. Don't mix the 2 kinds cause i bet they will fight.

Why do you say 1 "or" 3 or more?

I have a Red and a Purple in my 150 and they hang out together quite a bit. Right now they are in a 30 gallon QT together (Ich breakout) along with a few other fish and no problems.

I have a 60 and had 3 orange firefish. They all got along fine for several months, but when I moved and reconfigured the tank the smallest one began to obsessively pick on the medium sized one. It would get pretty nasty sometimes. Torn fins and tails and such. Then one day the one getting picked on was never seen again. I only had a percula with them who could care less what the others were doing. So I know that other firefish had to be the culprit. You probably will get different results with each fish but would be safer with 1 or a group of some size so the bullies can distribute their wrath among more than just one fish.

Because 2 will sometimes fight. I have seen lots of people who have 3 and they get along great.
