I've never used one, but when I was skimmer shopping about a year ago Thomas (one of the moderators) told me that Prizm skimmers were a waste of money.

When I get my 180 up and running, Euroreef is what I am going to get. They are a bit pricey, but definitely worth it!

I would'nt say that prizm skimmers are a waste of money...however...I would recommend spending a bit more on a different one unless you have a lot of patience. I have a prixzm Pro deluxe skimmer that I FINALLY managed to tune well after a few months. I now have it skimming and it's quiet as well. It required a fairly long break in period. (or maybe it's me that needed the break in period) If I were to do it again, I would buy the Aqua C Remora.

we run a prizm HOB on our 29g reef and it works great, i hear they suck all the time, but i dont think so. it pulls out a TON of brown stuff from the water everyday, and im very happy with how well it works and how quite it is. and it only cost us a few frags from someone local, so not a bad deal at all. if you have $200 to blow on a better one go for it, but if you want something that works really good and dont want to spend that much, i would get a prizm.

Big waste and hard to get to work for any long period. I now use a aqua c remora and have a rio 1400 pump for it(it comes w/ a maxi jet 1200), I thought it needed more power:) , if you got the bucks I'm sure people would say euro reef or equal quality.

prizm skimmers are junk... I had had a prizm pro, and it was a royal pain.. It was next to impossible to get it adjusted properly, and when you did, it still put tiny bubles into the tank... They are crapola.... I returned that for the berlin hang on... a bit of an improvement, but then again.. not much to write home about.. I just did the Kent venturi mod to the berlin, and initial results have been good.. I am getting much more skimate out of it.. but not what I had hoped..... Hold out for a high end skimmer..... Your water quality will thank you in the long run.....

I have to disagree...mine no longer makes any bubbles in the tank...micro or otherwise. It is definitely difficult to 'tune' but it skims very well once you have it tuned and it is quiet. To avoid the frustrations of the break in period, I would likely not buy one again however I am very happy with the way it is performing now.

no bubbles ever here, but it sounds like a freight train compared to my remora. I cannot hear it at all, my prism I hear from the other room at night
