Red Sea Prizm Skimmer Users

I recently purchased a Red Sea Prizm Skimmer for my 55gal FO tank. However, I can't seem to get that little sucker to work. I've been fine tuning it for about 1 week now and either the foam is overflowing into the collection cup or I turn it down low and after about 1hour I have to re prime it because the water quit cycling.
Anybody have any suggestions? Is this usual?
I also purchase a SeaClone 150, but returned it cuz someone said they are noisy and this tank is in my Living room. But, I could put up with noise if it actually worked.

the foam is overflowing into the collection cup
Isnt that what you want it to do? The foam(waste) should come up through that hole and overflow into the cup. For the first week you should empty that cup everyday b/c it will remove a ton of junk. In the manual there is a troubleshooting page... helped me get mine started
The way I get mine started is fill it up with water. Then plug the air line into the hole on the left. turn the skimmer on and wait for the water to begin pumping up into the skimmer. then once water begins moving back into the tank plug the airline into the hole on the right. HTH

I'll keep tweaking it for awhile and see what happens.
I think, to my understanding of Skimmers is that the foam actually doesn't drip in the collection cup to much, it's more ore less creates a DRY substance that is the crap from the take. The from just does the fractation.
Maybe wrong :)
