Red Sea skimmer problems

I have a prizm skimmer and about every five days it stops pumping water? motor and impellar are still moving but not pushing the water out. I bought a new impellar and the same thing happens. any ideas? i tried emailing the company but can't get the website to work,as they have helped before with questions. could the motor be bad and still be working but not correctly?

Does the pump move water when disconnected from the skimmer and just run "freestyle?"

That i will have to test. what should i do? remove the pump and place it in a bucket and plug it in and then what? how is this going to change anything? thanks.
