red shrooms

Hi,
I just purchased some small red shrooms. I'm wondering what kind of light that they like (ie, strong illumination, shadows). They've been in the tank about a day now, but are looking a bit tepid. The water parameters are all in line.
thanks for any info,
chris

What kind of lighting do you have? Shrooms can thrive in any number of lighting situations. It all just depends on how you acclimate them. If you have more light than fish world or fish pros or aquaescape :) then start then lower in the tank or in a shadier spot. Then work them to where you want them. Otherwise start them whereever you want them. They need a couple days to adjust to wherever you place them.

220 watts of SmartLamps in BriteLite hoods - combo Actinics and 6500K daylight. They were at the bottom of the tank, but in a fairly lit area. I've moved them to a little shadier area to see how hey do.
Thanks,
Chris

Ah. If they were at the bottom then i wouldn't worry about it. Shrooms are very forgiving to alot of things.

I've found that the red shrooms I have prefer a lower light source than other types of 'shrooms and they also seem to prefer a moderate to low current. I started with a single red and now have 7 that are spread along the lower sections of my reef in shaded areas. They spread on their own searching for spots they like.
