do a seacrh around. However I have found that CHEMI CLEAN works well. I know people dont like adding stuff to their tanks. However I had Cyno bad so I did a 3/4 water change. Trates 0 and plenty of circulation and its still comming back.

Before you add any chemicals consider the major causes. Old lighting, dead spots, overfeeding,or high phophates. Remember cyano is a bacteria not an algae. Anything you put in to kill bacteria(even a low level antibiotic),could have an adverse effect on "good" bacteria. Try to eliminate the cause, not the effect.

Check the flow thru your fuge. I needs to be slow for a fuge to do it's job. If it is too slow however you may experience cyno. I would just increase the flow slightly. Try that before you take other measures.

i have it in mine and i thru in 3 turbos and in 3 days it was all gone, imo i wouldn't use a chemical because its a temporary fix. find out the problem and try to correct it, mine fuge has a slow flow which caused it to happen but noone sees it so i just let it run its course.

NO CHEMICALS......IF YOU ENJOY YOUR REEF DO IT NATURAL, DON'T GO BY WHAT THE LABEL SAYS...SEE "MARINE SNOW".
Increasing the flow could be difficult if you have a small refugium...If you can find a way to direct a flow over the problem area do...(strategically placed rock...)
For goodness sakes...Add some caulerpa...get it so full that you have to trim it every week~!!!!!

The water flow is real slow, I will increase it and see what happens. I have some caluerpa on the other side of the fuge. Also 3 shaving brushes. I have been looking for more in my area and there is no more to get right now. Will a small ph help with the problem? Thanks.....

Not sure what you mean by a small ph, but I had cyano in my refuge for the first couple of months along with some hair algae.
Once the caulerpa really started flourishing though, all the other stuff went away.

power head= ph... where my algae/caluerpa is I have no cyano... I guess the lack of light getting to the bottom prevents it from growing?

I can't answer that for sure , I just assumed that the excessive macroalgae consumed so many nutrients there was nothing left for the cyano. All the hair algae was on the surface mixed in the caulerpa and it disappeared too.

Well, you sorta already touched on what I was going to say, but I also had a problem with cyano in my fuge (didn't have any in my main tank). My phosphates were below .03, so I knew that wasn't the problem. I tried many things to get rid of it, and finally I added a powerhead to up the flow. It cleared up totally within 3 days. It hasn't looked this good since I first set it up. It's nice to look in there and see green instead of dark red. Hope uping the flow works for you.
