Red slime comes transported from live rock, live sand and even the water the fish transfer from. If your tank is nutrient deficient (which it is supposed to be) your fine. If you really want some red slime just purchase a piece of LR with it and it should spread in your tank.

You don't want red slime algae in your tank. The only algae you would want in your tank is micro algae like calupra. Red slime algae is caused by bacteria (bad stuff)

"Red slime" is not an algea...it is actually one of the most basic bacteria...Cyanobacter.
It is present everywhere. It doesn't need to be imported into a tank to appear...just as the bacteria working the Nitrogen cycle.

Red slime remover works the best for me. I have in my small reef but with some help I found that is was do to not having enough water movement. I fixed that problem and I do not have any more red slime.
