Red spots and lump

Just wondering what would cause a red lump on the base of the fin and a red spot on the tail fin. My zebra still has an appetite but can't hardly swim to the top at feeding time. I have checked my water and pH is 8.4, ammo is 0 and nitrite 0. The guy at the lfs said it sounds like lymphocystis and the fish would heal with time. Also that it is not contagious. I don't feel quite confident with this so anyone with any input?
