RedSea Max 250 65gal Temp Problems

Hi, I have recently purchased a Red Sea Max 250 65gal tank. I seem to be having a problem regulating my temperature. I keep my home temp set at 72. The tank seems to go up to 82 with the lights on and all fans running. During the night with "moon lights" on the tank temp goes down to 76 or so. The Red Sea max has an additional fan on the back that I have been running all the time. It unfortunately, does not turn on or off with the lights and manually doing this doesn't seem practical. Any advice?

I keep mine set at 74 for my seahorse tank, if the temps climb in the tank the chiller kicks on.
for you if you want to keep your tank at say 78 then you many also need a heater.

82 is fine, set your heater to keep your tank at 80-81 then your daily flux of temp is only 1-2 degrees. Stable temp is whats most important.

I would think that if I set my temp higher (say 80) that when the lights run the temp would even go higher?

If your water temp stops at 82 with your lights on and fans blowing then thats where it will top out at. now if your temp slowely creeps up all day and is 82 when your lights go out then it will make your water hotter.
